The Biological Engineering Center (CEB), a research center at the University of Minho classified as Excellent by the FCT, is a research unit that develops its activities in 4 multidisciplinary areas covering the molecular, cellular, and processual dimensions: Industrial Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Food Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Environmental Biotechnology and Bioengineering, and Health Biotechnology and Bioengineering.
CEB’s activities in the ALGAVALOR project focus on optimizing the extraction of compounds of interest from microalgae and on developing and characterizing the photobioreactors and fermenters used in the production of microalgae.
